Rocking World 35

The fight against the bears was in full action. As soon they’d decided they were ready to start the fight, so had Anlie used her famous skill, Rolling Bash, and turned into a ball and rolled into the mess. Sending some of the bears flying, as she left a wonderful opening for the others to join.

Opiom had rapidly casted Blizzard, as both Asu and Merie had rushed in to try creating an opening for Lart to attack. Knowing that he would be able to take down the monster with one swing. Merie ducked a swing, by the bear, hearing the paw passing close to her head. Stepping in at the beast and hitting it, with her palm, in the stomach. Loving the feel of fur, before letting the claws out and doing minor damage. “BEHIND, MERIE!” Hearing Adu’s voice and ducking, hastily pulling backwards. Merie could see Adu’s spear puncturing the bear’s body, soon followed by a loud warning from Lart. The signal for both the girls to get out of the way, before his axe came swinging.

Merie glared at the bear, still standing after Lart’s attack. Which had to mean the monsters were stronger than earlier. “BE CAREFUL, GIRLS! THEY’LL PUT UP A FIGHT!” Lart didn’t look the slightest worried as Opiom warned the rest, making a jump back and preparing yet another attack. As a thin spike of ice pierced the bear’s throat. “I’LL KILL THEM IF YOU JUST ATTACK THEM, LART!” If Opiom really did follow up on his attacks, so could the monsters die rapidly. But it was only if she really did go serious, as Lart and Anlie were doing this time.

Merie was on her way to the next bear before the first had exploded into those familiar light particles. She was sure that both Adu and Lart was following her, just as they’d decided before attacking. “YOUR WAY, ANLIE!” Because the monsters turned out to be stronger than they’d thought so did Merie decide to ease Anlie’s burden. “NOT HOLDING THEM, DEAR!” Anlie surely needed help handling the monsters, repeatedly getting hit, by a bunch, as she held one in place. Merie concentrated on the monsters, sure she could see a faint light in the armpit of the bears.

She’d got an ability, to see areas increasing the damage, a while back. But she’d barely paid it any mind since she most often was sure where she should aim. “AIM FOR ITS ARMPITS! IT’LL DO MORE DAMAGE, ADU!” Still, it wasn’t as if she’d the luxury to ignore it, so she could at least share the information with the only other member who was able to aim for it. “WILL TRY IT, MERIE!” Adu shouted as she passed her, holding the spear high, seconds later shoving the spear up the bear’s armpit. “YOU’RE TOO CLOSE TO ME, ADU!” Anlie glanced to her side as she yelled, the spear was not even five centimetres from her face. So Merie couldn’t blame her for expressing her thoughts, as Merie also would’ve given Adu a piece of her mind. But she didn’t pay it more thought, passing Anlie’s other side. Coming up beside the bear, pulling out her claws and aiming an attack toward the armpit.

The bear turned, resulting in Merie’s attack missing. Instead stabbing it closer to its back. Not satisfied with the attack, Merie tried to get in another attack. An Ice bolt hit the bear in the side, of the head. “OUT OF THE WAY!” Anlie threw herself out of Lart’s way. Merie did the same, in loss of better options and to save her own ass. She could see the axe slice the monster, glad Lart had been able to follow them up this rapidly. “SEND HELP, GIRLS!”

During the short while Merie, and the others, were paying the target all attention, so had a bunch of bears decided to attack Opiom. Forcing her to jump between incoming attacks and desperately trying to flee the bears with hasty movements, somehow giving Merie the impression of a scared rabbit. Making her crack a thin smile, before she leapt towards Opiom’s aid. “DON’T RUN OF BY YOURSELF!” Adu rapidly shouts from behind her. “GET OPIOM OVER HERE, DEAR!” Wasn’t Anlie even bother trying to help her?! Merie couldn’t take the time to check where the asshole was standing, but she could promise that she would get pissed if Anlie remained in the same place.

Reaching the beasts, jumping and landing on one’s back. Merie didn’t waste any time before trying to stab it in the armpit, which was far more difficult than she’d thought. The bear trashed violently, trying to throw her off. “GLAD YOU’RE HERE! DON’T DIE, CUTIE!” Opiom better start helping her soon! Or rather, the others should start helping her soon, before she really risked to die.

She held a tight grip of the fur with her hand, paying it more attention than to the other hand, as she gave up aiming for the armpit and repeatedly stabbed the bear all over its back. “COME OVER HERE, OPIOM! AND MERIE, FOLLOW HER!” Adu wasn’t helping her yet, but she might’ve gotten stopped on the way. So Merie couldn’t think bad of her, “TELL ME WHEN YOU LEAVE, OPIOM!” As soon as Opiom would be out of harm’s way, so would Merie try to follow up without getting killed. Which would be easier if Anlie and Lart were helping Adu, and if Opiom also was going serious.

“I’M OUT, CUTIE!” At Opiom’s words so did Merie let go of the fur. Rapidly sent through the air, in the wrong direction. Landing and launching toward the others from a low position. She could see all of the others fighting a group of bears, glad that those two also was helping, keeping an eye on the monsters in her surrounding. Jumping to the side, hearing a paw passing her. “Wind of a Goddess.” Consider the situation, so did she decide it was better to use it than to risk getting killed. Which would result in her sending back to the village, and that would also mean she would need to catch up with the others on her own.

The world seemed to get slower as agility made a jump. Easily avoiding the incoming attacks. A cold and sharp wind passed her face, “I’M COVERING YOU, CUTIE!” For whatever reason, so had Opiom cast a spell toward her, maybe guessing right that it would miss her. “BE CAREFUL!!” The Ice-bolt had been too close for comfort, and Merie could promise that she would make sure to bash Opiom’s face in if the spell would’ve hit her. And even if the spell missed her, so wouldn’t she mind giving Opiom a piece of her mind. “JUST GET OVER HERE, DEAR! AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!” Did Anlie think that everything would be fine because Merie got over there? It would not change the fact that she risked getting killed by a spell, from an ally.

Reaching the others, who felt like they had been standing quite further away than they had, “So, how do we feel the situation is?” Merie hadn’t forgiven Opiom, nor forgotten it, but she could crack her head wide open later on, if she still felt like it. “THERE’S NO TIME FOR YOU TO HAVE A CHAT!” “I’LL HELP YOU, SIR!” Adu was probably already helping him, as Merie wasn’t watching them, but she was making their point clear. “I guess we should help them, Dear. At least a little.” “We should do more than a little, Anlie.” Merie was far from done with helping the others kill the monsters. And she was sure it was better to get done with the quest sooner than later, hastily turning around and joining Lart and Adu.

Thanks to Lart’s high strength, so was the monsters easy to handle. Even though he wasn’t able to kill them directly, as earlier, so wasn’t it much of their health remaining after one of his sweeps. Low enough for Merie or Adu to handle on their own. And of course so did it help a ton that Anlie joined and distracted the bears so the girls could do as much damage as possible. “THERE’RE LESS OF THEM NOW! KEEP AT IT!” It was great Opiom both had the time to check the surroundings and cast spells. Updating them with, mainly, positive information. “SHALL WE SPLIT THE LOOT AFTERWARD!” Why did Adu think about that for the moment? Couldn’t she wait with it till later? “SURE WE CAN! BUT WE’LL LOOK AT THAT THEN!”

Merie aimed more intensely at the beasts’ weak points. Making sure to make the most out of Anlie’s support, and maybe also training the ability. Even if she was sure she usually aimed for the best points, as she usually aimed for the throats, but considering the ability indicating the armpits as a weak point, so could she maybe be mistaken? Adu’s spear passed Merie as she jumped toward one monster, giving her the feeling that she wouldn’t need to pay it any attention since Adu already was at it. Using the bear’s soft stomach as a springboard and jumping backwards, attacking the next one alone. Anlie was only one person and couldn’t be there for both Adu and Merie all the time, and she was for the moment holding down the bear Adu was attacking. But it didn’t take long for Merie to change her target, noticing Lart was leaping on to slash another bear and deciding to follow up his attack instead. “COMING FROM BEHIND, LART!”

“A LARGE ONE COMING OUR WAY!” Checking her surroundings at Opiom’s warning, still paying more attention to avoid the attacks, Merie could also see the arriving enemy. Which at closer inspection looked far stranger, and more robust, than the other bears. Not only because it was larger and surely more muscular. But also because it looked as if it’d three heads and two extra arms. “IT MIGHT BE THE BOSS! SO BE CAREFUL!” Not only did it look as if it could be a boss, but it was also arriving alone. Just like the last boss in a bunch of other games. “DISTRACT IT, DEAR! WE’LL JOIN AS SOON AS WE’RE DONE HERE!” Anlie didn’t do anything wrong sending Merie to face it alone. Even if Anlie would be able to take a larger beating than Merie, so did Merie get a feeling that the four paws might injure Anlie a little too fast for her to recover and survive. And both of them might think that Merie would be able to dodge the attacks well enough to let her survive, at least long enough for the rest of the party to join the fight. But of course, so wasn’t it as if she thought of dying for the sake of the others, rather so would she fall back if it turned out that she’d taken water over her head.

Turning her heel and launched toward the fucker, meeting it head-on, ducking the first swing. Still forced to throw herself to the side, barely avoiding a downswing. Rolling over the ground and getting a healthy distance from the boss. Using the momentum to roll up at her feet, glaring at the monster and leaping into another attack. Dodging one, two, three and four attacks. Not even getting close enough to injure the bear herself. Cursing the situation, but knowing that she couldn’t do much about it while she was alone. “Wind of a Goddess.” She couldn’t think the ability would help her injure the boss, but it would increase her chances of not getting hurt. Or at least she hoped that would be the case.

“IT’S TAKING THE CUTIE HEAD-ON!” Wasn’t it the other way around? That Merie was taking the boss head-on? As she should be the one they cared most about, right? “KILL IT, GIRL!” Lart could honestly not think that Merie would be able to handle the boss herself. And if it turned out that he honestly was believing that Merie could kill it, so was he far dumber than Merie had thought. “JUST KILL THE OTHER BEARS, SIR!” Adu did seem to understand the situation, and was having her priorities right. Kill the other bears, and then so would they come and help Merie. And even though they needed to take it in that order, so wouldn’t she mind them hurrying.

Ducking a swing, jumping backwards to avoid another swing. Merie got out her claws and tried to slash it over the arm, directly seeing a paw coming her way. Throwing herself to the side, barely missing her. Silently cursing the boss, soon back on her feet and taking a distance.
