Rocking World 22

Merie and Opiom couldn’t deny that they both disliked the developers’ attitude, when it came to this quest. Which had seemed to have been a bother since the start of it. And now they were even throwing in a little more to the mix, another intensive wave, and a boss at the top of that. Which already had shown that it could spawn minions. “THEY’RE JUST AS ANNOYING AS MARCUS AND CLEARA!” For whatever reason Opiom decided to compare the monsters with those two former members, Merie couldn’t tell. “THEY AREN’T AS GLAD AT COMPLAINING AS THEM, SO THESE MIGHT NOT BE AS BAD!” But it wasn’t as if Merie could deny that she’d a point. Those two had been a pain in the ass, and as said, so would they always complain that the rest of the group didn’t do as they wanted. She felt that it was a good thing they’d left, but still she didn’t like their mindset. Especially not after she heard Lart had joined their, newly created, Guild for a while but had been forced to leave as he couldn’t spend the mandatory hours they tried to push.

Sidestepping a spear, going in and sinking her claws into the goblin’s throat. Ripping it wide open as she headed toward her next target. Noticing a goblin coming straight toward her, and how it fell to the ground leaving a trail of snow from its back. Showing that Opiom was doing a good job holding her back. “YOU BETTER KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR SURROUNDING, CUTIE!” Opiom shouldn’t express it as if Merie didn’t pay any attention to her surrounding, for it was exactly what she was doing. But it was easy to miss a couple of goblins as she’d her ass full of avoiding the rest of the hoard attacking her. “AND YOU BETTER MAKE SURE TO HOLD MY BACK, OPIOM!” It should be the easier task out of those two.

She took advantage of an unprepared goblin, kneeing it in the head as she leapt toward it, finishing it off with a stomp at its throat. Watching it disappear in a burst of light, setting off toward the next one. Avoiding a shitstorm of attacks in the process, as she might get into some deep shit if she happened to get the status effect sleep. Meaning she would fall asleep in the middle of the mess, and she didn’t think that one goblin would attack her, waking her up with an attack, but she was sure the whole group would gang her without a second thought.

Merie found it comforting that some spells were flying past her, aimed at the boss. And for once, during this quest, so did the developers seem to have a heart as the spells actually were doing some decent damage. Meaning that there maybe could be a chance that Opiom was taking him down as Merie handled the rest. But it wasn’t like she’d high hopes for it. Continuing to slaughter the goblins she reached, as she stopped thinking about the slight hope. “Wind of a Goddess.” Activating her ability again as she wanted to raise its level, and because it did help her kill the goblins faster. “CAN YOU THINK OF HOW GOOD IT WOULD’VE BEEN IF YOU COULD’VE USED SOME BOMBS IN THIS MESS, CUTIE!” Opiom was right that it would’ve been much easier to destroy the hoard if she would’ve used bombs. But she’d only got the ability a few days back, and hadn’t got the time to craft any bombs yet. Honestly, so had she almost not even got the time to research the ability. “I’LL USE IT NEXT TIME, OPIOM!” Merie wouldn’t hesitate to use it the next time, neither in standard hunts nor monster hunting. And if it turned out that she could mix the bombs with status-potions, so would she maybe use it more regularly? Not to mention that she might spend more time levelling up both the Potion-craft and Bomb-craft abilities.

Spells continued to fly, and goblins continued to die. The boss’s health was also decreasing, rapidly. Great indications they were getting somewhere, but Merie still found it as dragged out as the first hoard of goblins they were killing. Couldn’t the developers find another kind of monster to finish the quest with? Why did it have to be Goblins? “BE CAREFUL, CUTIE! THE BOSS IS CHARGING SOMETHING UP! AND I THINK HE WANTS TO DO YOU!” Opiom did a great job keeping her eyes open, but couldn’t she at least have tried to find a better wording? She made it sound like something Merie honestly didn’t even want to think about. But she sure could think both Opiom and Anlie could find funny. Still, she didn’t feel as if she could think too much about it, and instead tried to both keep an eye on her surroundings and the possible attack of the boss. Trying to keep her speed up and move around more frequently than earlier. Which hopefully would do it easier to avoid any attacks.

“HE’S COMING FOR YOU! CLUB HELD HIGH!” At Opiom’s last warning so did Merie only paid the bare minimum attention to the goblins surrounding her, keeping most attention on the boss coming straight toward her. Just as Opiom said, with his club held high. And considering how large the club was, so did Merie gave an idea she maybe could use to kill two jerks with one stone. Rapidly getting out of his way, leading him further into the masses of Goblins. Making it difficult for herself as she now had more attacks to dodge. “I THINK ONE HIT MIGHT BE ENOUGH TO FINISH YOU OFF, CUTIE! SO BE CAREFUL!” It was a good thing Opiom could both yell and cast spells at the same time, especially since the spells slightly distracted the boss. But it wasn’t as it did much more than that.

The attack finally came, an enormous swipe with the club, suddenly making Merie notice that she was too close to the attack. Making it impossible to step out of the way, and the club looked giant close-up, giving her a feeling that she wouldn’t be able to duck it. Giving her only one option, which might be a long shot. Taking a low position and tried to muster all her strength in her legs, watching the club coming closer. Jumping as high as she could, but getting a feeling that it still wasn’t enough. Hoping that it at least would lessen the damage enough to let her survive. The familiar tingling sensation shot through her body, seeing her health get slightly lower. Honestly much lower than she thought, but she was glad she could see the club pass below her and massacre quite an amount of goblins in the process. “I GOT YOUR ASS, CUTIE! WORSHIP ME!” Opiom’s yell confused her. Opiom hadn’t done anything to help her in the situation, so why did Opiom think otherwise? No! She shouldn’t think too much about that now, “JUST LET’S KILL IT!” If anything so could Merie ask her later on when they’d less shit happening.

The hoard has lessened quite a bit, and even better was that it didn’t seem like the hoard got reinforcement like before. Sure, they still increased, but only to an amount Merie felt she could handle. The only gran problem she’d now was the boss, which still charged her. But thanks to making the mistake of being too close once, so did she made sure to keep a safe distance. And during the time Merie danced with the boss and the others, so was Opiom still throwing of spells as raid as she could. Many of them were still getting used to killing the goblins attacking her, but at the very least so didn’t she seem to have any problem with it. And at last, so did the boss’s health reached red, and it started yet another kind of attack. A stomp shook the ground, and stole away Merie’s balances a couple of times.

“CAN’T YOU CAST SPELLS FASTER, OPIOM?!” Merie didn’t care if she sounded angry or not, because she wasn’t. But she was growing tired of fighting those fucking goblins, and she wanted to set off on her adventures again. Or at the very least do something else. “I’M CLEANING MY GARDEN! DO YOU WANT ME TO DIE?!” Considering Opiom expressed it like that, so didn’t Merie think she was angry about how Merie had expressed herself. Merie once again found her in the middle of all shit, the boss was charging her, and she was surrounded by goblins. Getting a tingling feeling in her back, and the world grew darker as the club came swiping. Merie couldn’t believe that she’d been hit by a goblin and got inflicted with sleep at the worst possible moment. “DON’T SLEEP NOW!” Opiom could cry as much as she wanted. If someone got inflicted with sleep, so would they fall asleep whether they wanted or not.

She knew that the club would come closer when the world had turned pitch black, and she could only hope that she would survive the hit so she could wake up and continue helping. And if she didn’t, so could she only hope that Opiom would be able to handle it herself, now as Merie had helped cut down the majority of monsters.

She’d only nodded off for a few seconds when she was woken up by an attack, once again only taking a slight amount of her health. The first thing she saw when opening her eyes was a storm of light, and behind it was the boss. Glaring at her. “SECOND TIME MY SPELLS SAVED YOUR CUTE ASS, CUTIE!” Had it been Opiom attacking her to wake up? Thinking about the club coming closer to her before she fell asleep, so should it have been that waking her up. But since she was alive so shouldn’t she spend energy thinking about that, rapidly getting back at her feet and taking a safe distance from the boss again. “BE GLAD YOU’RE MOSTLY FLAT! OTHERWISE, YOU MIGHT BEEN SERIOUSLY FUCKED!” Opiom gave Merie a thought of what might’ve happened. It sounded as if she somehow had been laying flat enough on the ground to get under the club, and because of that, survived the attack. “CAN’T YOU JUST KILL IT NOW, OPIOM?!” Merie was seriously getting fed up with the battle, and she might’ve been able to finish it herself. But since it was Opiom’s quest, so was it probably for the best to let her finish off the boss. “ON THE WAY!” The boss was moving toward her again as Opiom yelled, soon hitting the boss on the back of the head with an ice-bolt. Rendering the pest of its last health. Leaving only a few goblins remaining, which Merie rapidly set out to kill, finally setting the quest to its end.

“Did you get what you needed for the quest, Opiom?” “No. I got the message that the orb is in another castle.” Opiom rapidly answers Merie’s first question when they gather again. Resulting in that Merie dropped a heavy sigh, thinking if it would be worth continuing to help Opiom, or if she would leave Opiom to do it herself, or ask Anlie or Lart for help. “Don’t look so sad, Cutie. It was only a joke, so I got what I needed and will soon set off to finish the quest before someone else does.” Opiom could be an asshole sometimes, but Merie would let it slide for now. “Sounds like a good idea, so I guess we’ll see each other sooner or later.” Knowing it was better to let Opiom finish the quest before it turned out they had done it for nothing. And checking the time, so didn’t Merie have much time left to play before she would need to log out for dinner. Which also would indicate the end of her intense gaming weekend.

They had just got out of the cave when Opiom set off in her own direction, leaving Merie to her own device. And to think of how little she’d gained from the day, which honestly didn’t differ much from a regular day’s gaming. But it could maybe still be worth it when considering that Opiom might be able to pull something new to the party.

But thinking about the short amount of time she’d remaining, so could she try to do the best out of it. Opening her menu and the information she’d got with the Bomb-craft ability. Getting positively surprised as it stated what she needed to make small, standard and large bombs. Also stated that she could mix them with status-potions, but she would need to find out the best way to craft those recept herself. Meaning there were different kinds of bombs she could craft with those effects.
