Rocking World 14

Merie felt she’d been taking it easy on the drinking the last night, but her head was still hurting and felt sluggish. In contrast, Anlie wasn’t showing any sight of being affected by the drinking. Still, they both logged into the game and joined the two others for the raid of the cave.

“And I guess the two of you’d fun yesterday.” Opiom was smirking as she looked at Merie, acting as if she could see on her how she was feeling. “We’d fun alright. And if we’re lucky so might we get a new member in the party in a couple of days.” Anlie seemed proud of that Adu maybe should join, even though she hadn’t done much to make it happen. “Is it another girl joining our all-girl team?” And of course so did Opiom still had to act as herself. “I’m still not agreeing with Opiom, but it sounds nice that we might get another member. And I just have to ask if the person knows we’re up to no-good, or if we’ll need to behave?” Did Lart honestly think Anlie would’ve invited someone who wouldn’t accept them having fun? Merie was hesitant that it ever would happen, no matter how good the other player might be.

“She was curious if Rocking World was a good game to let the demons come out and play, and I think that might answer your question, Lart.” “But I think we should let Merie lead the way, now, if she can remember it.” Anlie followed up her answer with a task for Merie. Who DID HAPPEN TO REMEMBER the way to the cave. And even if she wouldn’t so had she marked it in her map. “Before we leave, so am I curious if we anyhow should care about the scouts we might encounter?” Merie knew the Goblin-scouts would watch them, but she didn’t know if they would inform the goblins in the cave about their arrival. “I think we can leave them, but what do you think, guys?” Anlie was turning to the other two and hoping for their thoughts. “If our cutie just points them out, so can I one-shot them with a magic arrow. Just so they don’t invade our asses as we raid the cave.” If Opiom really can one-shot them, so would it be great. Which was something Lart also agreed with.

The forest seemed just as calm as it had been before, only a pair of Goblin-scouts keeping an eye on the surrounding, which Opiom really did one-shot. Reaching the tree, “The cave is inside the tree.” Merie pointed out the tree, but wouldn’t blame anyone if they didn’t believe her. Honestly, so wouldn’t she’d believed it either. “I’ll go first. But if it turns out that you’re lying, so will I get back at you, Dear.” Anlie pushed Merie aside as she spoke, then walked straight into the tree without hesitation. Passing through it just as easy Merie had, soon followed by the rest of them.

There were no goblins roaming the cave this time either, still the party was on high alert. They didn’t want to risk getting ambushed. “Are there any splits in the road, Merie?” Lart was holding his battle axe tight as he whispered, rightly suspecting it was for the best to whisper. “There are no splits, so it’s just a straight way to the room where I found the goblins.” So as long they keep their attention toward their front and rear, so shouldn’t there be any problems. Not that the fight as a whole would be much of a problem, but they could risk some embarrassing losses if they were ambushed.

Luckily so was it calm the whole way to the large room. The only slight noise might have been their light steps and their endless whisper of how they should handle the goblins. If it was a large group of goblins, so would Opiom first cast Blizzard, the Anlie and Lart should head straight into the mess. After that, so would they follow their classic tactic and go nuts. Which honesty was what fitted them the best. But if it would turn out there were fewer goblins, so would they simply go on with doing their own things.

“I don’t like the look of that large goblin, so may I ask you, all, if we can try to kill him as fast as possible?” Anlie looked over the mass of goblins before she started to glare daggers at the goblin leader. “Then, please don’t mind me changing to my other set of claws.” Merie also thought it could be good to kill that goblin first, equipping the claws she used for Pking as they would make a shorter work of it. “I think our cutie should concentrate on the large one, and I’ll do what I can to support her. And the two of you should try to thin the goblins out before concentrating on the large one.” Opiom had a good idea for once, and it was even though she was the one who always rejected the idea of planning any attack. “Then I think I should follow Merie’s example and go in the same way as if it would be a hunt.” Lart wasn’t even looking at them while talking and followed himself up with opening his menu and equipping a second battle axe. Without a word so did Anlie follow their examples and equipped her other set of armour.

The goblins seemed to discuss something, their annoying voices filling the room. The voices suddenly turned to screams as a blizzard arrived, snowflakes aching in their surprised faces. The winds grew stronger, followed by even higher screams.

It was almost impossible to see, but a large ball created a way through the group of goblins, leaving shiny particles dancing in its wake. Closely following the ball was a muscular man, wildly swinging two battle axes, one in each hand, slashing and bisecting the unfortunate goblins getting in his way.

Merie wanted to watch her friends’ actions but didn’t have the time to do it. Circulating, in the shadows, the mass to reach the largest of the goblins. Hoping she could do a short job of killing it, so she could join the more intense and satisfying slaughtering of the masses. But for the moment so could she at least be glad none of the monsters were noticing her, meaning that she didn’t have to watch her back as much. And instead so could she spend her energy on the, possibly, leader. Which angrily was wavering his arms as he yelled, something?

Getting into a good position and holding her claws tight as she eyed her surrounding. Deciding there weren’t any threats, launching an attack on the leader. First, when it noticed her, so did some goblins got in her way. But it wasn’t any problem, easily sidestepping and slashing them as she passed. Noticing the leader picking up a club and holding it for a swing. Not that she thought much about it, sure she easily could dodge the attack. Dodging a small one’s spear with a forward spin, turning her hand and sinking the claws into the goblin’s neck. Scoping out a large chunk of it.

A large piece of ice passed her head and hit the large goblin, who seemed largely unaffected by it. Merie frowned at the view, hoping it was untouched because it had a high magical defence. Otherwise, so might she have a cursed problem ahead, which she probably couldn’t solve herself. Not that it anyhow meant that she wouldn’t die trying if it came to it. Reaching the leader, trying to slice its front, blocked by its club. The monster was faster than she’d thought. “Wind of a Goddess”, but she could get even faster with her ability. “YOU MISSED HIM, CUTIE!” Opiom didn’t say, as if Merie hadn’t noticed it herself. And was she even one to point it out after her spell failed miserably?

Merie jumped back as the goblin tried to punch her with a swing, just letting the massive arm pass before leaping forward again. This time certain she would get a hit as the goblin locked itself in a turning movement. Using both her arms in X-like slashes, slicing its chest and stomach, but only leaving some light scratches. Jumping backward again and keeping a healthy distance from it, “I MIGHT NEED SOME HELP KILLING THIS GUY!” The leader was just as bad as Merie didn’t hope it should be, so she did really need the others’ help. And it wasn’t only Opiom’s help she needed, but the other two’s too.

“COMING YOUR WAY, DEAR!” Anlie maybe should pay some more attention to the goblins surrounding her, even though she probably didn’t have too much to fear from them. “I’LL BE COVERING YOUR REAR, ANLIE!” At least so did Lart seem to think about keeping his allies safe, or in this case Anlie.

The two of them started to head toward Merie and the large goblin. Who still was swinging wildly at her, still too slow to hit her. But considering how large the club was, so would it do too much damage for her to survive. Still, she jumped in from time to time, as she waited for Anlie, doing some light damage.

As soon as Anlie joined so did Merie turn her attention toward the other goblins attacking them. Getting fairly surprised as her targets got slaughtered by Lart’s giant axe, showering her in a whirlwind of light particulars. “I’M BEATING YOU IN THIS GAME, MERIE!” Lart didn’t have to see it like that. “JUST KILL THE GOBLIN!” She didn’t care about who killed most Goblins, it was more important to defeat the goblins. Not to mention that she knew she wouldn’t be able to kill the goblin as effectively as him, but it was because she’d a different weapon than him and couldn’t roll steam over them.

Merie felt slightly better as she killed the smaller Goblins, finally able to see herself doing some progression. Moving between the rain of particles, barely done with one before she set her sight on the next one. “AS SOON YOU THINK YOU’RE DONE THERE, SO ARE YOU FREE TO HELP US, DEAR!” Weren’t Anlie and Lart’s combined strength enough to handle the large goblin? Sure, Opiom was helping them too, but as Merie had already seen, so didn’t she do much damage. “I’LL THIN THEM OUT SLIGHTLY MORE, THEN I’LL HELP YOU!” If they couldn’t defeat the goblin, so wouldn’t Merie be able to do it. But she could maybe help slightly by distracting it as the other moved in for some real damage.

She turned heel as she thought she’d thinned out the goblins enough, leaping into her new task. Rapidly passing Anlie and Lart, reaching the leader. Jumping and aiming her claws against its neck.

She was sure it wouldn’t be enough to kill it, but it would probably be enough for it to concentrate on her. As she was the fastest on her feet, so could this act decrease the overall damage. She hoped. But she soon noticed that even if the goblin aimed at her, so wasn’t it as if they did any more damage to it. Not even Lart’s axes did any intense damage. “HE’S A HARD NUT TO CRACK!” He could say that again if he wished. “SHALL WE CONTINUE THE ASSAULT, OR GIVE HIM SOME TIME TO BREATH AND COME BACK AT A LATER DATE?!” Opiom might have a good idea, mainly since they didn’t do any real damage, and probably didn’t have a chance of winning. “SOUND LIKE A GOOD IDEA IN MY EARS!” Merie was sure they could continue for quite some time longer, but she wasn’t as sure that they would win. And in that case so was it better to just let it be. “YOU CAN FLEE IF YOU WANT, BUT I’LL STAY HERE FOR A WHILE LONGER!” Anlie wasn’t at their side, nor did Lart seem to be at their side. At least by judging from his silence and that he continued fighting without paying their shouting any attention.
